Arco della Pace: historic centre tour in Milan for Expo
Arco della pace
… is an admirable neoclassical work by Luigi Cagnola, began in the early nineteenth century to celebrate Napoleon Bonaparte, continued “in memory of the peace” on the initiative of Emperor Francis I of Austria and finally inaugurated in 1838 by Emperor Ferdinand I for his coronation as king of Lombardy-Venetia. With independence in 1859 conquered the inscriptions, dedicated to the Habsburg Emperors, were replaced by those still visible along with that of 1807 in honor of Napoleon I, which reads just below the magnificent bronze casting depicting the so-called Sestiga of Peace.
Of great value also the equestrian statues at the corners and, just below, those marble depicting the rivers Po, Ticino, Adige and Tagliamento. Beyond its artistic level, unquestionably strong, Arco della Pace is one of the characteristic symbols of Milan, the place of the most different types of aggregation and entertainment, and unique scenic backdrop coming from Parco Sempione during our historic centre tour for Expo organized by our Italian Language School in Milan.
Arco della Pace by night…a paradise of fun!

Italian language school in Milan for Foreigners
is located in an elegant Liberty building in the heart of Milan. Placed in one of the most charming and evocative neighbourhoods of Milan, it is minutes away from the city’s main attractions: Sforza Castel, Brera Art Gallery, La Scala Opera House, Duomo Cathedral and the famous “golden rectangle” of fashion. The Italian language school in Milan occupies the first floor of a fascinating Liberty building. The air-conditioned school, with its six bright classrooms, overlooks the charming Piazza del Carmine. In the Brera district, the artist’s neighbourhood of Milan and home to many cultural events, there is a vibrant night-scene and is an outstanding starting point to discover the city and all it has to offer.
Il Centro, the Italian language school for foreigners, was founded in 1986. It was born from the experience of two Italian teachers, Enrica Cavo and Luisa Turolla, with the idea to create an italian school for foreigners with an innovative methodology. We think of personalized study paths for our students that help them to learn an Italian that is indispensable in the everyday life and at work.
